With over 100,000 employees, this global leader in dialysis care for those suffering from chronic kidney failure brought WellSaid on board to transform training workflows.
The Challenge
With such a large employee base, this company’s global learning team produces training and compliance content for a highly specialized, international workforce. When Drake Highlander–Senior Manager of Instructional Design–joined the company in 2019, the team was juggling a patchwork of voiceover solutions, such as recording the voices of internal employees and occasionally outsourcing professional voice actors. However, quality was often inconsistent or lacked diversity, and the cost was often not worth the result.
The Solution
Drake hadn’t originally planned on overhauling the team’s voiceover workflow, but when he connected with a WellSaid representative, his guard didn’t go up the way it often does when approached about new AI-based tools, and he opted to give it a try.
“When [the WellSaid rep] told me about WellSaid, I thought ‘Okay, this is something I can try that won’t disrupt our workflow, but help it,’” said Drake. “They showed me how easy it was to use, and I was sold right away.”
What started as a small trial quickly became a core part of the team’s production process. They started using WellSaid for e-learning modules and quickly expanded into voiceover for video and other multimedia formats.
The Result
The global learning team now uses WellSaid for over 90% of the company’s learning and development content, dramatically cutting production time. Drake mentioned that a voiceover for a 30-minute course could easily take five full days of work. Now, the team is done in half a day.
On top of that, incorporating WellSaid into workflows has largely cut production costs and increased productivity. The team can quickly correct script errors, test different reads, and scale content much faster without adding headcount or budget.
“Once our teams realized we could be more productive, they wanted to create even more,” said Drake. “We used to build long timeframes into our project plans, and didn’t realize how much [voiceover] was slowing us down until we started using WellSaid. Now, we can produce more training, which means we need more voiceover, which would have cost us more previously, but with WellSaid, it’s like compounding interest. We used to spend top dollar on outsourcing professional voiceovers. After WellSaid, we haven’t spent a penny on that.”
Conclusion
For Drake and his global learning team, WellSaid fundamentally transformed how they create training content. What began as a low-risk experiment quickly became an essential part of their processes, enabling a more agile workflow with faster turnaround times, lower costs, and more engaging, diverse content at scale.
By eliminating production bottlenecks and unlocking creative flexibility, WellSaid has helped them deliver learning at the speed of business and raised the bar for what’s possible in enterprise training.
“I didn’t expect the true impact WellSaid was going to have until I truly leaned into the tool,” said Drake. “With WellSaid, we can produce more, we can produce it faster, and we can produce it for less money.”
